Manchester United are prepared to sanction the departure of Paul Pogba this summer, provided any of the interested clubs meet their £100m asking price.
The Frenchman has gone through a difficult 2019/2020 season where he has been sidelined with multiple ankle injuries and that has restricted him to just seven league appearances.
A recent report from The Mail claimed that Pogba had made a surprise U-turn on his contract standoff and he would be willing to sign a new long-term deal on improved wages.
However, according to The Sun, that does not appear the case and United seem prepared to part ways with the midfielder when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.
The same outlet claims that the club have slashed their asking price for Pogba from £180m to £100m such that they can attract interest from the player’s suitors this summer.
Pogba’s current deal with United expires in June 2021 but the club have the option of extending his stay for another 12 months, which they are expected to exercise in the near future.
That will definitely preserve the midfielder’s value for the next transfer window but it remains to be seen whether the likes of Juventus and Real Madrid are willing to meet the price on top of the wages.
Pogba has not featured for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side since the beginning of the year after undergoing a surgery to put an end to his nagging ankle problems.
His comeback has been delayed with the league’s suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic. He should play a part for United in the coming months, if or when the season resumes.
