Manchester United want to strengthen their attacking options this summer by signing a new left winger.
United have now been credited with an interest in Ajax winger Mika Godts.
United scouts ran the rule over Godts during their 2-2 draw with PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie over the weekend, according to insider sully.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona scouts were also in attendance.
The 20-year-old recorded an assist and scored in stoppage time to rescue a point for Ajax. He now has 17 goals and 12 assists in the Dutch top flight this season.
He joined Ajax as a youth player from KRC Genk in 2023. He impressed in Genk’s academy, earning comparisons with Chelsea legend Eden Hazard.
Godts made his first team debt for Ajax in 2023, but only became a first team regular last term under former manager Francesco Farioli.
He is primarily an attacking winger, but can also play as an attacking midfielder.
Godts is known for his dribbling ability, averaging 2.9 dribbles per game this season — the highest in the Eredivisie this term.
He ranks first for goal involvements, second for chances created and fifth for big chances created, highlighting his decisiveness in the final third.
It remains to be seen how much United will push to sign the Ajax star, given that Antony — who also impressed with the Dutch giants — struggled at the club.
The Mancunian giants have also been linked with other left-sided wingers such as AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye and RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande.
Leao and Diomande has proven themselves in superior leagues, while Ndiaye has Premier League experience, making them a better target than the Belgian.
That said, United reportedly want to resolve Marcus Rashford’s future before making a move for a new left winger.
