Manchester United scouting Icelandic 17-year-old —Liverpool joins the race

According to a report from a Swedish outlet named Expressen, Manchester United’s scouted wonder kid Isak Bergmann is being targeted by Liverpool. Johannesson plays for the Swedish side IFK Norrkoping.

Both Manchester United and Liverpool have now set their eyes on a talented Icelandic prospect,

The rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool is historic, and the fans from both sides know that.

They never shy of cheering for their admired ones or jeering at the ones representing the opposite red.

For the clubs, the battle of checking each other out of a contest exists both on and off the field.

And this time, it seems to be a matter happening outside side the conventional footballing pitch.

Manchester United have been reportedly scouting the 17-year-old midfielder for a while now. And as per the recent reports, Liverpool have recently sent scouts to watch the prospect.

Alongside Manchester United and Liverpool, Italian giants Juventus are keeping their tabs on the situation with the Icelandic youngster.

While playing in Swedish top division, Johannesson has scored three goals and provided eight assists this season so far.

Speaking to Expressen, the Swedish club’s chief scout said (as quoted by Daily Mail),

‘It has been a great interest. It’s fun that we have many interesting players but it’s no secret that clubs are chasing Bergmann Johannesson.

‘Norrkoping has quite a lot of money and no need to sell and Isak has a sensible agent and family who know what they want and when he should go. It’s no stress for us, it’s rolling on. When something comes up that is good for all parties, something may happen.

‘Yes (Liverpool are one of the clubs, but) you can name all 10 best clubs in Europe. Everyone has been here for him, they are all curious. Liverpool is a club, there are 10 others as well. It is normal and fun for the association and Isak himself.

‘A club with a lot of money may appear tomorrow or in six months. It is good that Isak is calm and has a good counsellor and family. Norrkoping has no stress.’

Manchester United did considerably well with the acquisition of young prodigies from across the globe in the last summer transfer window.

By the look of the things, it feels as if United would keep adding new, talented names to their youth ranks going forward.
