Manchester United reportedly prioritising £142 million double deal for Frenkie De Jong and Antony

Manchester United have two main transfer targets this summer – Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong and Ajax attacker Antony.

That’s according to a report from The Express, who claim that Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is putting all his eggs in two baskets this summer.

And he is allegedly prepared to wait it out until the end of the transfer window to get deals done for the Dutchman and the Brazilian.

Ten Hag has a massive rebuild on his hands at United. These things take time and don’t happen overnight. Building slowly but surely will be the best way to go for the Dutchman.

There are a few key positions that need filling at Old Trafford – mainly central midfield and the wide attacking department.

It seems as though Ten Hag is prioritising moves to sign two players who would significantly strengthen those two areas in particular.

Manchester United eyeing double deal for Frenkie De Jong and Antony

The Express reckon the United boss wants deals done for the Barcelona midfielder and the Ajax winger above all else this summer.

And United fans will be incredibly happy if the Dutchman manages to secure what would be a huge double coup for the club.

Spanish publication Sport claim that United have agreed a £72 million deal with Barca to sign the 25-year-old midfielder, but he has his doubts about moving to Old Trafford this summer.

De Jong is a truly world-class central midfielder and will be a tremendous addition for whichever club wins the race for his signature. He earns a whopping €30m per year, according to Sport. That works out at a mammoth £490k-per-week.

The midfielder would be a stunning addition for Erik ten Hag this summer. He bagged three goals and three assists in 32 La Liga games for Barca last season.

During those appearances, the Dutchman made 51.2 passes on average per game and recorded a mightily impressive completion rate of 91.3%.

De Jong is highly energetic, is very cool and composed when in possession and is a brilliant passer of the ball. He has the quality needed to dictate the tempo of the game and would add so much to United.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag is eyeing a move for another player as well.

Ajax star Antony is a summer transfer target for United, with the Dutch side demanding around £70m for the Brazilian starlet, according to a report from the Express.

Bringing the Ajax ace to Old Trafford for that kind of fee should be a complete and utter no-brainer for the United board and Ten Hag.

The Ajax winger is one of the most exciting young talents on the planet right now. Described as a ‘real deal young Ronaldo’ by Eurosport, Antony is a truly exceptional young player.

He bagged 12 goals and 10 assists in 33 games for Ajax last season. The previous campaign he chalked up 10 goals and 10 assists in 46 games. Those are impressive numbers for someone so young.

He can play on either wing, is exceptionally fast and possesses incredible technique. Antony’s play is quintessentially Brazilian in the sense that he plays with an abundance of flair and creativity and always tries to excite the crowd.

And United signing de Jong and Antony this summer would be a massive statement from the club.
