Manchester United reject loan offer for Hannibal Mejbri from Besiktas

Manchester United have turned down a loan offer for Hannibal Mejbri from Besiktas, according to Manchester Evening News.

The transfer window for the Turkish clubs is still open for another week.

Man United manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly ‘reluctant’ to let Hannibal leave Old Trafford this summer.

The 20-year-old impressed in United’s pre-season games, but the summer arrivals of Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat have raised concerns over his playing time.

Teenage sensation Kobbie Mainoo is also ahead of him in the pecking order.

Man United have a tough decision to make

Ten Hag utilised Hannibal as an attacking midfielder during pre-season. The youngster showed great tenacity and proved to be a pressing machine.

He also impressed for Birmingham City in the Championship last season.

Man United already have three options for the holding midfield role – Casemiro, Amrabat and Mainoo.

Christian Eriksen and Mason Mount are expected to battle for the number eight spot.

This leaves the number 10 position, which Bruno Fernandes owns.

Ten Hag also has the option to choose Scott McTominay in the attacking role, who has been fantastic for Scotland lately.

Donny van de Beek is still at Old Trafford, but the Red Devils are looking to sanction his exit.

Hannibal is a highly talented player. However, talent alone is not always enough to achieve success at a big club like Man United.

He needs regular playing time to develop his game, but he will find it hard to get regular minutes under his belt with United.

His best chance to feature for the first-team looks to be in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

It will be interesting to see how much game time he receives in the first half of the season if he remains at the Theatre of Dreams.
