Transfer Rumours

Manchester United reach an agreement for a player priced at £80m in the past

According to several reports surrounding the Mancunian club, the former Paris Sain-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has decided to move to Old Trafford on a two-year deal.

Should the move go over the line, Manchester United then will snap up their second signing from the ongoing summer transfer window.

However, back in 2015, famous journalist, Richard Keys claimed that United are very close to signing Cavani who is priced at £80m

Cavani played 22 matches for PSG in the 2019-20 campaign, amassing seven goals and three assists in all competitions.

The reason the Uruguayan was unable to rack up a great number of appearances last term lies in the fact that he had a season ravaged with various injuries

With 200 goals from 301 matches, Cavani became PSG’s highest goalscorer, surpassing a record previously owned by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Cavani’s reported inclusion will surely strengthen Manchester United’s quality on the bench.

Odion Ighalo is also set to depart following the expiration of an extended loan deal in the upcoming January.

And considering United’s participation in the UEFA Champions League, a striker of Cavani’s ilk could prove to be a lively addition.

Cavani, 33, is a natural finisher and has won numerous trophies.

It is believed that Cavani will earn over £200k-per-week from this reported two-year deal.

Manchester United have had signed several youngsters and the players that represent the age group between 20 to 25 years.

But, this time they have prioritised experience over youthfulness, which will surely help them thrive in the Champions League.

Manchester United will be playing the likes of PSG, RB Leipzig, and  Istanbul Besakshehir in the group stage of the Champions League this season.
