Manchester United are reportedly planning to enter the transfer race for Brighton & Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo.
The 21-year-old has made huge progress since joining the Seagulls in the 2021 winter transfer window.
The Ecuadorian has now established himself as a key member of the team, starting all 14 Premier League matches this season.
Sky Sport Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg claims that the Red Devils are planning to enter the race for Caicedo.
Their bitter rivals Liverpool are also interested in Caicedo as a back-up option if they are unsuccessful in their pursuit of Jude Bellingham. However, Brighton are hoping to extend his stay beyond 2023.
United were linked with the talented midfielder before he arrived in England.
They could have signed him for a small fee when he was still at Independiente del Valle. However, they will likely have to pay a considerable sum to secure his services.
Caicedo is a top midfielder
Caicedo is a top-class midfielder who has already made a name for himself in the Premier League.
The 21-year-old is currently involved with Ecuador at the 2022 World Cup. He started both matches against Qatar and Netherlands and was impressive with his performances.
The Brighton star has played 180 minutes in the competition, averaging 2.5 tackles, 1.0 interceptions and 0.5 clearances per game. He also completed 84 percent of his passes (as per Whoscored).
Caicedo is dominant in the air and highly rated for his tackling and concentration.
United will likely have to spend a hefty sum to seal his transfer but, considering his talent, they should definitely try to sign him.
