Manchester United veteran goalkeeper Sergio Romero might end up staying put at the Mancunian club as a possible transfer to Major League Soccer looks very unlikely, as reported by Daily Mail.
Sergio Romero joined Manchester United from Italian side Sampdoria in 2015.
During his five-year stay at the red part of Manchester, the Argentine has helped United bag four trophies – EFL Cup, UEFA Europa League, FA Cup, and a Community Shield.
He is consistent between the stick and plied his eye-catching trades as a second fiddle to United’s no.1 David de Gea.
Romero has made 61 appearances in total for the Manchester-based side.
However, the exclusion of Romero from the squad for Manesester United’s pivotal FA Cup semi-final game against Chelsea and Europa League sem-final game against Sevilla meant Romero already had become an out-of-favour prospect for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Furthermore, Manchester United’s move to bring in Dean Henderson to compete for the number one berth pushed Romero further down the pecking order.
It certainly seemed as if the summer transfer window would see the Red Devils letting one of their veterans to leave for a considerable transfer fee.
Though, the general understanding is that Romero is far from considering a move away from Manchester.
According to a report from Daily Mail, Romero might end up staying at Manchester United as David Beckham’s new club Inter Miami would possibly not be able to strike down a deal before the MLS transfer window shuts down on the early hours of Friday morning.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper reportedly earns around £100,000-a-week at United.
The story suggests that Inter Miami have failed to agree on the contractual terms with Romero.
And the lack of time remaining at the hands of the involved parties could be the main reason behind the culmination of an apparent deal.
One Premier League side in Everton were interested in snapping up Romero’s signature on the deadline day of the international summer transfer window.
But that deal also fell apart due to United’s conviction that Everton would be their direct rival in the domestic circuit going forward.
