Manchester United are considering making a last-ditch attempt to rack up the signature for the former Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, according to Gianluca di Marzio.
The Uruguayan has had a glorious history scoring 341 goals in 556 games, as per the stars from Transfermarkt. He’s one of the most prolific strikers in the football history.
The former Napoli superstar became the free agent following the expiration of his contract with PSG by the end of the 2019-20 campaign.
Cavani was formerly linked with a summer move to Benfica.
However, his high wages meant the Portuguese club had to shift their interest somewhere else.
Man United have had a torrid transfer window so far, with the Red Devils having made only one signing in Donny van de Beek thus far.
United currently have three out-and-out strikers, including Mason Greenwood, whom Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prefers playing on the right-wing.
In the January transfer window, United were forced to sign Odion Ighalo from Shanghai Shenhua on loan after their reported bid of around £20m for Josh King got rejected by the Cherries on the deadline day.
The extended loan-deal for the Nigerian is set to end as soon as this January. Hence, Manchester United need to add a striker to fill that void and extend the quality in depth.
Cavani has loads of experience inside his tank, and he could provide United with a lethal option in the absence of Anthony Martial
