According to RMC Sport journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi, Manchester United has formally expressed an interest in Rennes star Eduardo Camavinga.
The teenager is recognised as one of Europe’s most promising young midfielders and is touted to have a big future.
The Red Devils are reported to meet Camavinga’s representatives next week in a bid to convince him to come to Old Trafford.
However, his priority is to remain in France and move to Paris-Saint Germain.
His contract with Rennes expires at the end of next season.
The Ligue 1 club would prefer to cash in on the starlet rather than see him leave on a free transfer next summer.
Apart from Manchester United, Arsenal and Real Madrid have also been linked with him.
Red Rants view
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already has a rich pool of midfielders at his disposal.
They added Donny van de Beek into the squad last summer who has failed to see enough game time due to this intense competition.
Camavinga is valued at around £50 million by Transfermarkt and this price might increase further if multiple clubs submit their bids.
In the last few years, United have been guilty of signing players who are way too young and inexperienced or at the twilight of their career.
There are no doubts about the massive talent Camavinga possesses.
However, if the Red Devils want to sign a player for the centre of the park, they should go after someone who is a proper holding midfielder and in the prime of his career.
