Manchester United have officially confirmed that Michael Carrick will become the new permanent manager.
Carrick has been offered a two-year deal with the club having the option to extend his stay by another 12 months.
It is a big decision from INEOS to place faith in the 44-year-old.
The former United midfielder was handed the managerial reins in January following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim.
Since taking charge, Carrick has transformed the atmosphere around Old Trafford by delivering 10 victories and three draws in just 15 matches.
United have now secured their long-awaited return to the UEFA Champions League after two years away and are also on course to finish third in the Premier League table.
Their best performances came against Manchester City and Arsenal before a slight drop in intensity.
The Red Devils also produced statement victories over Liverpool, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur during an extraordinary run of results.
INEOS are believed to have conducted extensive background checks on both Andoni Iraola and Unai Emery while assessing alternative managerial options.
However, the club ultimately decided to commit to Carrick after Thomas Tuchel and Carlo Ancelotti pledged their futures to England and Brazil respectively.
Carrick’s trusted backroom staff are also expected to remain in place, with Steve Holland, Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans and Travis Binnion all reportedly in line for new contracts.
The former central midfielder has brought a nostalgic feeling back to United after spending 12 years at the Theatre of Dreams.
He shares a deep emotional connection with the United supporters after making 464 appearances and helping the club win five Premier League titles.
