Barcelona are ready to sell Umtiti if the right offer comes in, with Ronald Koeman looking to rebuild Barcelona after a trophy-less season for the Catalans.
Spanish outlet Cadena Ser believes the La Liga side are keen to get his wages off their books and could release him on a free deal.
As per Transfermarkt, Umtiti is valued at £29m. This can be a ray of hope for Manchester United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to trim his defensive options this summer with Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones all allowed to depart. Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are Solskjaer’s preferred defensive partnership but the Reds continue to be linked with centre-backs this summer. The Norwegian boss wants competition amongst his defenders.
United were linked with a move for Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes, but the Brazilian preferred a move to Arsenal. Dayot Upamecano was linked too, however, he is happy to stay at RB Leipzig.
The Reds have long been linked with a move for Umtiti since leaving he left Lyon for Barcelona in 2016. A free transfer can help United plug their defensive gaps without spending a lot of money. A move to Old Trafford would also allow Umtiti to restart his career in competitive football.
This can be a win-win situation for all the parties involved.
