On Monday’s Sky Sports Breakfast Transfer Show, a senior member of Manchester United’s Press Team, James Cooper confirmed that Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereria are two midfield options that will remain in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s fringe list. The rest will continue to fight for a place for the starting XI.
Cooper also mentioned United losing out on at least £5m per game as a result of playing behind closed doors.
He also added that the £108m asking price for Jadon Sancho is a big amount and United are trying to use their transfer budget wisely to facilitate Sancho’s exit.
As James Garner is set to join Huddersfield on loan, United are going to have nine midfield options with Donny Van de Beek’s medical done and official announcement almost imminent.
United are also in the market for Thiago, Dayot Upmanecano and Benoit Badiashile. With Sancho nowhere near Old Trafford in spite of weeks-long negotiations, United’s board would be desperately looking to sell off some of the players to create space in the wage bill for new players
Andreas Pereira was given his first proper chance this season but failed miserably. Lingard didn’t fare well too. The communication between the club, him, and Solskjaer has so far in the eyes of the public been positive.
Van de Beek is clearly better than Pereira and Lingard. Ole makes it clear that the duo are not in his plans and Cooper confirms it. If United were to land Thiago it would definitely mean the exit of Lingard as he turns 28 soon, falling almost in the same age bracket of Thiago who would definitely be more viable of Solskjaer.
