Sky Sports report that Manchester United are monitoring Ben White’s progress at Brighton.
White is Premier League’s fourth-best performing center-back after Kurt Zouma, Thiago Silva and Gabriel, according to Wyscout.
The 23-year-old is a highly-appreciated centre-back and is performing exceedingly well for the Seagulls this season. He also helped Leeds United secure promotion last season while on loan there and was one of Championship’s best players then.
In the summer. Leeds were ready to pay as much as £25m but White decided to stay with Brighton and signed a deal.
London clubs Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested and are keeping tabs on him. Chelsea signed two center-backs in the summer: Malang Sarr and Silva. Spurs signed Joe Rodon. United needed a defensive reinforcement but didn’t make a move.
The Red Devils are in a better negotiating position than the other clubs with the promise of playing time given that Maguire and Lindelof are the only two defenders Ole Gunnar Solksjaer seems to rate, and with United looking to move out other defenders, White will have a chance to stake a claim in the starting lineup.
United are heavily linked with Pau Torres and Dayot Upamecano. White has an edge over both Torres and Upamecano as he’s proven himself in England.
All three are great options for United. It’s positive to see United vying for the best of the bunch.
