Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek set for a permanent transfer to Girona

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek is set for a permanent transfer to La Liga club Girona.

According to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano, a permanent deal has been agreed between the two clubs but personal terms will be discussed next week.

The transfer could rise to £4 million based on appearances.

Van de Beek moved to United from Ajax in a deal worth £35 million in 2020. He featured 62 times for the Red Devils over the last four years.

He was sent on loan spells to Everton and Eintracht Frankfurt in the second half of the 2021/22 of 2023/24 season respectively.

A tragic chapter for Van de Beek and Man United ends

United are reportedly receiving only £430,000 for the sale of Van de Beek.

The transfer fee is embarrassing, but the Premier League giants could not have hoped for anything better.

The 27-year-old has had a terrible spell with United. Poor form and recurrent injuries always pulled him down.

It prevented him from replicating the dazzling heights he achieved at Ajax.

It was pivotal for United to sell this summer as his contract expires next season.

He is on a £90,000-per-week contract with the Red Devils. His departure will free up some space on the wage bill.

A move to La Liga may bring his career back on track, considering his style of play could suit the Spanish football.

Girona secured Champions League football through a third-placed finish in La Liga last season.

If Van de Beek agrees to the transfer, he will link up with his former team-mate Daley Blind.

United have set their sights on signing a new midfielder with Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte the top target.
