Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed two of his first-team players will be unavailable for the weekend’s Premier League clash against Arsenal.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer enjoyed decent results in a hectic run of fixtures securing a win against PSG and RB Leipzig in the Champions League group stage fixtures.
Ever since enduring the 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur, the Red Devils are unbeaten both in the Premier League and Champions League.
Last weekend, they shared the points with 0-0 home draw against their London rivals Chelsea, which nonetheless wasn’t the greatest of spectacle for Solsksjaer’s men.
United currently occupy the 15th position, having garnered seven points from five matches in Premier League.
Though, United have played one game less than most of the English team present on the same sheet.
Therefore, the Sunday’s game against Arsenal on the home soil seems to be a pivotal one with greater significance.
United must grasp all the three points to continue the fluency in the form they are currently enjoying. However, they will have to do it without two of their main-team players, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed.
Speaking to the pre-match press conference on Friday morning, the Norwegian went on to confirm that Manchester United would miss Phil Jones and Alex Telles for two different injury causes.
He said:
“Phil has been injured and had an operation and working really hard to be back, hopefully he’ll get fit in December, when you’re injured you can’t get into the squad, he’s working really diligently and he’ll be coming back soon.
“Alex won’t be ready, no, so apart from that I would think everyone else looks like they could be involved.“
Alex Telles made his debut start for the Mancunian club in United’s away game against Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month and performed relatively well on the away soil.
Solskjaer revealed that Alex Telles had been tested positive for coronavirus after his team’s 5-0 win against RB Leipzig.
As Telles’ feed on his Instagram profile reveals, the left-back is asymptomatic and eager to re-join his teammates at Manchester.
