Manchester United make their decision over Dean Henderson’s loan contract: report

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won’t have any objection to extend the loan contract of Dean Henderson with Sheffield United, a report from Manchester Evening News claims.

The 23-year-old has impressed for the Blades for the second season running on loan and he has already kept 10 clean sheets in the Premier League – just one behind Burnley’s Nick Pope in the Golden Glove race.

His performances have contributed towards Sheffield’s impressive return to the top-flight and they are currently in a position, where they could leapfrog United into one of the Champions League places.

The current season is likely to be extended until the end of July with the ongoing suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic and United will have the right to either recall Henderson or extend his loan deal.

It has recently been suggested that United may consider the former option such that they can weaken the Blades’ pursuit of Champions League football but M.E.N claims that Solskjaer would rather prefer Henderson staying at Bramall Lane for the campaign.

Sheffield are currently placed seventh on the table but they are just two points behind the Red Devils for the fifth position, which could be sufficient to make the Champions League after Manchester City’s European competition ban.

United could be overtaken by Chris Wilder’s side, who have a game in hand. However, the Blades have a tougher schedule which includes another meeting with the Red Devils before the season concludes.
