Manchester United have ended their pursuit of Juventus playmaker Paulo Dybala after getting to know of the Argentine’s excessive wage demands, a report from The Telegraph reveals.
The 25-year-old emerged as a transfer target for the club towards the end of the previous month and it was suggested that he could make the move to Old Trafford in a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku.
However, there were still concerns with regards to the personal terms involved, and The Telegraph has now confirmed that the negotiations over the proposed exchange move have concluded without success.
Dybala would have been the perfect fit for the number 10 role with his strong technical ability in and around the box, but it is quite clear that the Argentine did not hold the desperation to play for United.
Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku continues to remain with United with the swap deal called off and the next few days could give a clear indication whether he would stay with the club beyond the transfer deadline.
Inter Milan are yet to come up with a fresh proposal for the Belgium international after a £54m bid was turned down last month, and it will be interesting to see whether they will re-enter the fray for his signature.
United finished their pre-season campaign with a 2-2 draw against AC Milan in normal time before winning on penalties. As such, they were able to preserve a perfect record with victories in their six friendlies.
