Transfer Rumours

Manchester United lose out on €24m winger who is compared to Mo Salah

Leicester City have completed the signing of former Manchester United target Cengiz Under on loan. Under joins Leicester from AS Roma on a loan deal with an obligation to buy after the end of his first season.

The deal is priced at a €3m loan with a €24m obligation to buy.

Under becomes Leicester’s second signing of the summer after Atlanta right-back Timothy Castagne

According to a report by TeamTalk, United were ready to line-up a bid for Under as an alternative for prime target Jadon Sancho.

The report also claims that United had spoken to former Tottenham technical director Franco Baldini. Baldini acts as an advisor to Roma’s billionaire owner James Pallotta.

However, the move never materialized and United are now looking at the Turkish International joining a Premier League rival.

Losing a player of Under’s potential should wake United up. Though, it is not the first time this has happened in the summer transfer window.

Turkey’s former national team boss Mircea Lucescu compared him to Mo Salah as he was impressed by his performances:

“Cengiz keeps developing every day. His future looks really bright. His playing style and quality remind me of Mohamed Salah.

“There are five years between them so obviously there is a difference in experience. It is worth comparing that Salah was like at Cengiz’s current age.”

Metro reports that new Manchester City winger Ferran Torres rejected a move to the Old Trafford to join the Sky Blues too.

United is always regarded as a team that gives chances to young talents. Though, if United keep losing such rich prospects to their rivals, they are going to find out in the worst possible way what it feels like to see a world-class player emerge right from right under their noses.
