Manchester United to look towards more loan alternatives

According to Sky Sports reporter James Cooper, Manchester United chief executive, Ed Woodward, has made contacts with Watford over a potential deal for Ismaila Sarr.

However, the deal is expected to be a season-long loan rather than a permanent one. Speaking on the Transfer Show, Cooper said,

“Ismaila Sarr is someone that Manchester United have talked to Watford about, there have been discussions.

“But again, they’re not looking at a player like that as a permanent fixture, as someone they’re going to bring in and make a Manchester United long-term prospect.

“They want a loan signing, they don’t want someone permanently.

“So I think, although that could go onto the other deadline in terms of the Championship, it would be a worst-case scenario rather than a best-case scenario, which is Jadon Sancho.”

Watford want to sell Sarr on a permanent basis for nothing less than £50m, as per the claims. 

Sarr joined Watford last summer for the club’s record transfer fee of £30m. Last season, he went on to score five goals in 29 Premier League appearances.

But his contributions were not enough as they got relegated by the end of the season. 

With Ousmane Dembele’s potential loan move to Manchester United now seemingly off, Ismaila Sarr seems to be a viable alternative. 

The English transfer window will remain open until October 16.

And United will be looking to accelerate their talks for Sarr should they eventually fail to land Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in the dying minutes of the summer transfer window.
