Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho endured a disappointing evening in the Champions League as Borussia Dortmund played out a 1-1 draw with PSV Eindhoven in the first leg of their round-of-16 tie last night.
The 23-year-old featured on the left wing from the start but failed to produce a single goal or assist and was substituted after 68 minutes.
Donyell Malen’s goal means the tie is finely poised ahead of the return leg in Germany.
The London-born forward had just 31 touches and failed to create a single key pass or complete a single dribble. He also lost possession 12 times and won only two of his six ground duels.
Sancho joined Dortmund on loan in January in a bid to revive his career but has failed to make a huge impact for the club.
The 23-year-old made a positive start by registering assists in his first two Bundesliga matches against Darmstadt and FC Koln.
But he has largely been disappointing since, failing to make any goal contributions in his last five appearances.
Sancho needs to step up his game quickly if he wants to retain his place in the starting XI.
