Manchester United keen on signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha

Manchester United are keenly interested in Borussia Dortmund’s £40 million-rated midfielder Felix Nmecha, according to Bild.

The Germany international has established himself as one of Dortmund’s key players this season, starting 20 games across all competitions and contributing three goals and two assists.

He began his career at Manchester City Academy and was given his professional debut by manager Pep Guardiola before switching to VfL Wolfsburg in 2021.

Described as ‘technically adept‘ by Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl, Nmecha is a versatile midfielder. His adaptability makes him an attractive target.

United would need to be prepared to meet his asking price, as Dortmund are reluctant to sell. The German side considers him a vital player for the future.

The Red Devils are expected to reinforce their midfield in the summer to support manager Ruben Amorim’s vision for the club.

With the potential departures of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro, United’s need to bolster their midfield options becomes even more pressing.

Nmecha would be a brilliant signing for United

The German midfielder could be an ideal partner for Manuel Ugarte in Amorim’s two-man midfield.

Amorim has often deployed Bruno Fernandes as a deep-lying midfielder, but Nmecha’s arrival would allow the Portuguese playmaker to return to his preferred No. 10 role.

Nmecha is more comfortable on the ball than Ugarte, thanks to his experience as an attacking midfielder—a role in which he thrived at Wolfsburg.

He is also press-resistant, having been dispossessed of the ball 12 times in the Bundesliga this season while being fouled 22 times.

Defensively, he has won 66.7% of his tackles, made 18 interceptions, and recovered possession in the final third eight times, making him a valuable asset on both ends of the pitch.

If United secure his signature, he could be a valuable replacement for Casemiro and Eriksen due to his ability to play as a defensive or attacking midfielder.
