Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign highly-rated Brighton defender Ben White.
The Brighton defender is set to spark a bidding war, with all of England’s top clubs vying for his signature.
The 22-year-old centre-back has just spent a successful season on loan at Leed United, where he helped the Whites gain promotion back to the top flight. White played all of the 46 games in Championship this season and was a crucial part of Marco Bielsa’s winning team.
Leeds United are eager to get the defender back to Elland Road on a permanent deal but have reportedly had an offer of £30 million rejected for the defender.
Manchester United are looking to strengthen his team in the market this summer and has Ben White in his sights to partner Harry Maguire in the heart of Manchester United’s defense for the coming seasons.
Brighton boss Graham Potter is a fan of the defender and has plans to feature him in his first-team next season in a back three but can be persuaded to sell the defender if an offer of £40 million comes in. It is because they already have Lewis Dunk, Adam Webster, Dan Burn and Shane Duffy as other center-back options.
This provides a golden opportunity for Manchester United. Ben White is tried and trusted in the vigours of the Championship and has played under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa. He could be the missing piece in United’s defense and Solskjaer should make efforts to sign him.
United should look to finish the job quickly before their competitors get serious about signing the centre-back.
