Manchester United interested in signing Chelsea star as the Blues look make more signings

Manchester United are in the market to wrap up more deals during the last few days of the transfer window.

After signing Donny van de Beek from Ajax, United are looking to add another midfielder in N’Golo Kante from Chelsea.

As per The Guardian, United have made contracts to sign the player who can operate both as a box-to-box and a defensive midfielder.

United have several box-to-box options. However, the defensive midfield is one of those regions where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might fancy bolstering up before the deadline day of 5th October.

United’s only defensive midfielder – Nemanja Matic, has had provided several spectacular outings in recent times, running the heart of the field with utter ease every time. Nowadays, he barely makes a mistake. However, Kante is an upgrade over Matic as the Serbian is comparatively slower and less aggressive.

United’s other options are Fred and Scott McTominay. They have delivered some good performances but remain inconsistent.

Having played 174 matches across all competitions, Kante has had proved his trait for the Blues, shielding the back four on a regular basis.

The Red Devils have only enquired regarding the availability of the French World Cup-winning midfielder this summer. And as of yet, nothing has advanced.

Reliable transfer journalist confirms that Chelsea are pushing to sign Declan Rice from West Ham and offloading some existing players. If Chelsea are successful, it is evident that Kante would like to move as both are very similar players and need starting roles.
