Manchester United identify Jack Grealish alternative in French midfielder

Jack Grealish is on Manchester United’s radar for a very long time. Aston Villa was on a verge of relegation, so Manchester United expected the cut-off price for Grealish. With a draw to West Han United on the final game of the season, Villa earned a very crucial point that made them stay in the Premier League. Grealish scored in that game.

Aston Villa’s asking price for Grealish is reported to be around £80m.

According to MEN, United found a cheaper alternative in Houssem Aouar. He’s a very similar player to Grealish. Aouar captains Lyon and plays as a no.8- someone who could play the role of Bruno Fernandes or even combine with him.

United need a backup to Fernandes as he cannot play every game. The Red Devils will compete in four competitions next season- Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Champions League, playing two games per week. They need depth and Aouar fits the profile.

As per Metro, Lyon’s Sporting Director Juninho admitted after their European exit that several of their top assets – including Aouar – will likely leave this summer. This is an outcome of their seventh-place finish in the French league- meaning they’ll miss the Champions League next season.

Arsenal have offered a financial package plus midfielder Matteo Guendouzi and the French side would have been happy with around €47 million. [source: Daily Mail]

If United is looking to secure Aouar’s services this summer, United needs to be quick in finding agreement with the club and the player.
