Manchester United handed boost as Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount return to first-team training

Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount both trained with the rest of the Manchester United squad at Carrington on Wednesday according to the club’s official website.

The Denmark international striker has yet to play for the Red Devils this term after suffering a hamstring injury during their pre-season friendly with Arsenal in the United States.

Joshua Zirkzee and Bruno Fernandes have been tasked with leading the line in his absence and manager Erik ten Hag will be glad to have Hojlund back in the fold.

Mount started the first two league games Man United played this term but suffered a thigh issue in the 2-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion and has been unavailable for selection since.

The Red Devils return to Premier League action on Saturday with a trip to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace, but it is unclear whether Hojlund or Mount will be in the squad.

Man United will be looking to make it three consecutive victories across all competitions when they take on the Eagles following resounding wins over Southampton and Barnsley.

They are looking to finish in the top four in the Premier League, and having their most important players fit for the majority of the campaign will be a huge boost.

Ten Hag will hope United maintain their new-found momentum, and a victory at Selhurst Park would be another positive step for the team.
