Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana feeling confident ahead of facing Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane

Manchester United face Bayern Munich in their first Champions League game of 2023-24 at Allianz Arena this evening, and Andre Onana is looking forward to the clash.

The Cameroon international goalkeeper reached the final of the competition with Inter Milan last season and will hope to go one better with his current team.

Man United will have to get a result against Bayern if they want to impress in the Champions League, and Onana is feeling confident of their chances.

He was asked about how he feels about coming up against England international striker Harry Kane, and the Red Devils star insists he has nothing to worry about.

“To be honest, the most important thing is us,” Onana replied when asked on TNT Sports how he feels about facing the former Tottenham Hotspur hitman tonight.

“In this platform, every single player is great. It does not matter against who you play, that is why they call it the Champions League.

“Every player is dangerous, every player is good, so it does not matter against who you play. You just have to be ready.”

Kane has been in inspired form since joining the Bundesliga club from Spurs in the summer, with four goals and an assist to his name in four games, and he will be very eager to score and help his side to victory against Man United.

The Red Devils were keen on signing the Englishman but did not make a concrete effort, going after Rasmus Hojlund instead, and he will want to show them what they are missing out on.

Onana was far from impressive in the 3-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday and will be determined to redeem himself with a five-star performance tonight.

He can expect a busy night against a team that has scored 11 goals in four games this term and averaged 21 shots per game, and his performance will go a long way in determining the result.

Onana will also need help from Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof and the full-backs, and it will be interesting to see the tactics manager Erik ten Hag deploys against Thomas Tuchel’s side as United bid to bounce back from three defeats in the last four games.
