Manchester United have been given a boost in their race to sign a transfer target. United are interested in Watford winger Ismaila Sarr. Liverpool were interested too.
According to a report by the Express, Liverpool have ended their interest in Watford winger Ismaila Sarr. They took this step after being told to fork out up to £50million to sign the forward.
Liverpool’s only concern this summer has been the lack of quality back-up players in their squad. The arrival of UCL winning midfielder Thiago Alcantara from Bayern is set to bolster the midfield. Their interest in Wolves forward Diogo Jota has also borne fruit.
Jota’s arrival means that Liverpool may not pursue Sarr at all.
This all has also been confirmed by reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Romano stated that Liverpool have not yet made a bid for Sarr and are close to ensuring the signature of Diogo Jota.
This can prove to be the luck United needed in the market. The Red Devils have had an abysmal time in the summer transfer window. The club regularly lost out to rival clubs on their preferred targets.
The arrival of Sarr can change that.
Sarr had been a revelation for Watford in their previous Premier League campaign. His performances had earned him interest from English champions Liverpool. The Reds have been keeping tabs on Sarr for some time.
United’s pursuit of Sancho is dying. The club have also been pegged back in their pursuit of alternatives. United had a bid rejected for Juventus winger Douglas Costa. They also lost Gareth Bale to Tottenham.
United would have to spend a fee of around €40m to get the Senegalese International to Old Trafford.
