Manchester United’s Fred could start Brazil’s next World Cup match against Switzerland on Monday.
This is according to a Brazilian publication Globo who are claiming the 29-year-old is expected to start in place of Neymar.
The Paris Saint-Germain star has already been ruled out for the rest of the group stage matches after he picked up an ankle injury against Serbia.
Danilo is also nursing a knock and faces a fight to be fit for the knockout stages.
Fred was featured off the bench by manager Tite in the Selecao’s 2-0 victory over Serbia in their first group match.
Meanwhile, Antony has returned to training in a boost for Brazil ahead of their crucial clash against Switzerland.
There were fears about the availability of the 22-year-old after he missed two training sessions due to sickness.
But the Manchester United star was pictured training alongside his Brazilian teammates.
He came on as a substitute in the previous game and played for only ten minutes.
United splashed a huge £82 million transfer fee to secure the services of Antony in the summer. And he has made an impressive start to life in England with three goals from 11 appearances.
The 22-year-old plays as a winger and is highly rated for his passing, dribbling, crossing and finishing ability.
Tite has an abundance of talent at his disposal but he should give more chances to Antony who has proved his abilities in the Eredivisie with Ajax.
