Manchester United are reportedly prepared to sanction the departure of Marcos Rojo to Estudiantes on loan this month.
The Argentina international has fallen out-of-favour under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this term and he has managed just three appearances in the Premier League.
Moreover, he has not played a single game for the Red Devils since early November and it appears that he is now on the cusp of leaving the club on a temporary basis for the season.
According to The Mirror, United have failed to find any suitable buyers for Rojo and they have therefore decided to permit his loan move to Estudiantes, where he began his professional career.
Rojo currently has less than 18 months remaining on his contract with the Red Devils but the club have the option of an extension clause to prolong his stay for another year.
He is presently contracted to the club on a weekly wage package of £100,000-a-week and Solskjaer’s side will definitely have to pay a significant portion of the salary during the Argentine’s loan at Estudiantes.
The lack of playing time has certainly played a part in the current situation involving the player and United will be hoping that the versatile defender can impress during his stint in South America.
In that case, 29-year-old could attract interest from more clubs during next summer’s transfer window, who are willing to come close to the club’s valuation for his services.
