Manchester United fans react to Victor Lindelof’s robust outing vs Spain

The game between Spain and Sweden ended in a 0-0 stalemate, with both teams guilty of squandering goal-scoring opportunities.

Despite putting up a commanding display against their opponents, Spain was unable to break the deadlock.

Luis Enrique’s side ended the game with more than 85% of ball possession.

Their dominance can be judged from the fact that they made a total of 917 passes compared to Sweden’s 162.

Victor Lindelof started at the heart of Sweden’s defence and was under serious pressure throughout the 90 minutes.

However, the 26-year old showed great composure and resilience to help his side maintain a clean sheet.

Lindelof had a passing accuracy of 85% which is way better than 54.9% recorded by the whole Swedish side.

He helped his defence to stay organised, making nine clearances and two vital blocks.

He deservedly received the Star of the Match award for his performance on the night.

Here is how few of the fans reacted to his sublime outing yesterday:

Manchester United have been rumoured to be interested in signing a world-class centre-back this summer.

Raphael Varane and Pau Torres are two players who have been linked to a move to the Theatre of Dreams.

However, Lindelof’s robust defensive performance against Spain proves that he is a far better defender than many people believe.

It remains to be seen if his inspiring performances for his country can force the Red Devils to reassess their pursuit of a centre-back.
