Manchester United are understood to prioritise the signing of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa despite the midfielder’s recent controversy outside of the playing field.
The 24-year-old recently made a public apology after he was spotted at his friend’s place just hours after urging people to stay at home during the coronavirus pandemic.
According to Bleacher Report, the moment has had no bearing on United’s interest in the Villains captain, who has contributed seven goals and six assists in the Premier League this season.
The same publication claims that the versatile midfielder would be available for a fee of around £60m unlike the £80m price tag mentioned in the media over the past month.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has focused on signing young British players and Grealish perfectly fits the requirements with the age and ability to play in different positions on the field.
Grealish has primarily featured as the left winger for the Villains on the top-flight return but he can also slot into an attacking midfield role or drop into the centre of the park.
Still, the former England youth international can’t anticipate an easy route to the starting XI and there will be competition for each of those positions for the 2020/21 season.
Aside from Grealish, United have been regularly linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho. Solskjaer’s side have been earmarked as the front-runners to sign him in a club-record deal.
