Manchester United failed to secure full points at Leicester City as Jamie Vardy forced a late equalizer to stop the Red Devils’ impressive run after their draw against Manchester City.
United started confidently and found themselves ahead in the 23rd minute of the game through Marcus Rashford’s opener, but their lead didn’t last long as Harvey Barnes canceled out the advantage.
And when the in-form Bruno Fernandes smashed a goal in the 79th minute, it looked that the Portuguese star had secured victory for the Manchester side. However, Vardy proved decisive in the end as his shot took a deflection off Axel Tuanzebe to beat David de Gea between the goal-posts and earn a point for the Foxes.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side had the opportunity to leapfrog Leicester and reduce the gap between themselves and current leaders Liverpool in the Premier League table but they failed by missing many good scoring opportunities and conceding two goals.
This draw means that United are third in the league standings now, with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool four points ahead of the Red Devils following their emphatic 7-0 victory against Crystal Palace.
Solskjaer’s side will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Wolves at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
