Manchester United eyeing Bayern Munich defender Noussair Mazraoui

Manchester United are one of the clubs exploring a deal to sign Bayern Munich defender Noussair Mazraoui this summer, according to Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The 26-year-old Morocco international is a top transfer target for the Red Devils and is keen on a move to the Premier League.

Man United have already held concrete talks with the representatives of Mazraoui, but are not the only club interested in recruiting his services, with West Ham United also admirers of the Bayern star.

The Bundesliga club are open to selling the full-back. They initially wanted €30 million but are open to doing business for around €20m as he still has two more years left on his contract.

The Red Devils want to bolster their full-back options, and they have been linked with Feyenoord defender David Hancko, Chelsea star Ben Chilwell and Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilon.

Mazraoui has emerged as an attractive option for Man United as he can play in both full-back positions, featuring there several times last term and since his days at Ajax.

Man United manager Erik ten Hag wants to reunite with the Moroccan following their time together at the Eredivisie club, and a deal could be struck if the Red Devils can meet Bayern’s demands.

Mazraoui ended last season with four assists in 29 games across all competitions and has weighed in with a goal and eight assists in 55 appearances for Bayern since joining them in 2022.

The former Ajax star ended his time in the Dutch top flight with ten goals and nine assists in 137 games, and his qualities have attracted the attention of Man United and West Ham.

Mazraoui’s strengths include intercepting the ball, tackling, passing and holding on to the ball, and the Red Devils need such an attacking full-back that hardly misses games due to fitness concerns.

With eight trophies under his belt, the Man United target also brings the winning mentality Ten Hag needs in his dressing room, and convincing him to join the Red Devils could be a huge move.
