Manchester United are considering a bid for Chelsea midfielder Ngolo Kante. [source: Mirror].
Kante has been one of the best players in the league in recent times. He won back-to-back titles with Leicester City and Chelsea in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
At Chelsea, the tenacious ball-winner made 170 appearances and added FA Cup and Europa League winners’ medals to his collection. Kante also played a vital role in France’s 2018 World Cup-winning campaign.
With a smile on his face and intensity to cover every blade of grass, Kante is a player of his own class.
An injury-hit 2019-20 season has cast shadows of doubt on his Chelsea future. According to the Mirror, Kante is one of the many stars put on the transfer list by Frank Lampard in this summer transfer window. It is believed Lampard is frustrated with his players’ unavailability.
The French midfielder has no shortage of suitors. Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, and Juventus all potential destinations for Kante.
But, according to Oddschecker, Manchester United are clear front runners in the race to sign Kante and are priced at 1/2 with one bookie to get the deal over the line – far shorter than PSG at 7/1.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson certainly believes the surprise transfer would benefit United, saying:
“In what would be one of the more sensational transfers of the summer, it’s looking like N’Golo Kante’s potential move to Manchester United isn’t just whimsical gossip.
“Kante would be an excellent long-term replacement for Nemanja Matic at Old Trafford, although it’s unlikely Chelsea would happily sell him to United.”
Chelsea do not shy away from selling their players to rival clubs. Kante has three years remaining on his deal at Stamford Bridge after signing a five-year contract in 2018. He turns 30 next summer and Chelsea could use the money to fund Declan Rice’s astronomical transfer fee.
United’s midfield options alongside Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba are Nemanja Matic, Fred, and Scott McTominay. Kante is better than the options and could be a masterstroke signing for Red Devils.
