As per Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have triggered a one-year extension clause in Paul Pogba’s contract. MEN confirms that Pogba is under a contract with the Mancunian club until 2022.
Pogba re-joined United in 2016 under Jose Mourinho for a world-record fee of £89m – Pogba remains United’s most-expensive player till date.
Last week, Pogba came out and said it’s his dream to play for Real Madrid. Rumours also link him to Barcelona and Juventus.
at his press conference on Friday morning, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said:
“Paul’s our player. He’s going to be here for another two years and I’m sure Paul is focused on doing his best for us and we want to see the best of Paul.”
MEN understands:
Pogba said last summer 'it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else' and his agent, Mino Raiola, told La Repubblica in January he 'wouldn't bring anyone there (United) now'.
MEN also reports that Pogba’s early preference was to join the Blancos in 2016. However, Raiola pushed towards a United move and also ignited a transfer to Real after his spell at Old Trafford.
Pogba is a world-class player on his day – but has been too inconsistent for the Red Devils. If the Frenchman decides to leave, United have a replacement ready in new signing Donny van de Beek.
