Tottenham Hotspurs have expressed an interest in Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard. Former United manager Jose Mourinho is hoping to add the midfielder as a part of his rebuild at Tottenham.
Though, Lingard’s move to Tottenham depends on one big factor.
Tottenham may look to sell one of their star midfielders this summer. Mourinho is already searching for a replacement, especially with Spurs midfielder Dele Alli’s future at the club unclear.
Dele Alli has been left out of both of Tottenham’s first two games out of this new season. With manager Jose Mourinho’s cryptic answer regarding the player’s future, Dele Alli could be out of White Hart Lane by the end of summer.
Fabrizio Romano also confirmed that Lingard could join Spurs only if Alli leaves the London club.
Alli has been linked with a move to European giants PSG and Real Madrid.
Lingard broke into the United team in 2015. Former manager Louis Van Gaal was very interested in promoting the youth players into the first-team, of which Lingard was one of them.
Lingard hit his prime under Jose Mourinho. His performances under Mourinho earned him his first England national team start in 2016.
Lingard was a live wire in the midfield under Mourinho and became a fan favourite.
However, under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Lingard has been awfully poor.
Lingard has been touted for a move out of United this summer. He has been linked to West Ham, Leicester City, Newcastle United ,AS Roma and Atletico Madrid.
Earlier this season, Lingard shook hands with Mino Raiola and is now represented by the Italian super agent.
The midfielder is expected to cost around €30m.
