Manchester United are reportedly keen on landing the signature of midfielder Jack Grealish from Aston Villa irrespective of Paul Pogba’s future with the club.

Grealish, 24, has impressed in the Villains’ return to the Premier League this term and he has bagged seven goals and six assists from 26 top-flight outings.

A recent report from The Sun revealed that United will step up their interest in the England youth international with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being a keen admirer of his qualities.

It was highlighted that he could potentially emerge as the creative midfield partner for Bruno Fernandes with Pogba likely to head through the exit door for the right price.

However, according to The Express, it is suggested that the Red Devils have planned to make the move for Grealish regardless of whether Pogba remains with the club or not.

Fernandes’ arrival from Sporting has improved the club’s creativity in the final third and he has already accumulated three goals and four assists from nine outings for the side.

Pogba’s comeback following an ankle injury should improve the chances created for the frontmen and the combination of the Frenchman and Fernandes should be relishing to watch.

Should United sign Grealish, it’s unlikely that he will play alongside Pogba and Fernandes at the same point of time next term, given that would create an imbalance with the lack of a defensive midfielder.

Grealish has the other option of featuring on the left wing, where he has impressed for the Villains this term but judging by the form of Marcus Rashford from the position this season, that may not happen.

As such, the 24-year-old may not have the assurance of a starting berth unless he adapts to the right wing position, where he has played only 12 times during the course of his career.
