Argentine center-back Marcos Rojo is back in England following the expiration of his loan deal with the Estudiantes.
He bid farewell to his childhood club via Instagram.
The 30-year-old made the journey to Argentina in January for a six-month loan deal owing to a lack of playing time, But due to an ankle injury and the coronavirus pandemic, the defender made just one appearance for the Argentine club.
According to Mirror, Rojo revealed that he has held talks with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer regarding his future at United and admitted he was keen to extend his stay with Estudiantes in Argentina.
Manchester United is looking ahead to a summer transfer window rebuild and the lack of quality and depth in the defence is an issue for the manager.
The Argentine fell down the pecking order at United. It is expected that the player would be asked to leave in the summer to free up funds.
MEN also reports that United tried to sell Rojo a couple of times and will let him leave if an appropriate offer knocks their doors.
The possible destination of the player’s future is currently unknown, as is the reason Manchester United has called him back but the Argentine is likely to see himself shipped out of Old Trafford.
