Manchester United currently provide the most likely destination for Harry Kane if he were to leave Bayern Munich next summer despite Tottenham Hotspur’s first-option clause, according to the Telegraph.
The Red Devils want a new number 9 ahead of the new season, and while Kane is not part of this summer’s merry-go-round, next year could be a big one for the former Spurs star, with a potential return to the Premier League mooted.
There is a clause in his Bayern contract which decreases each year, and the Bundesliga club may be open to doing business next summer instead of losing him for free.
He will be 33 when the 2026-27 season starts, but Kane has not slowed down after bagging 41 goals and 14 assists in 51 games last term, and Man United could do with him in the short term should they still need a striker next summer.
While Tottenham secured a first-option clause in the deal to sell him to Bayern in the summer of 2023, it would only be applicable should Bayern agree to sell him and he expresses a desire to return to the North London club.
There is also no fixed fee in Spurs’ first-option agreement, and they would still have to trigger his release clause or negotiate a price with Bayern if they want him.
However, the Red Devils are the favourites to sign him if he wants a Premier League return, and landing their long-term target could be huge.
The England international hitman notched 280 goals and 63 assists in 435 games for Tottenham and has weighed in with 85 goals and 26 assists in 96 games since moving to Bayern.
He will still fancy his chances of getting the job done in the Premier League for two or three more seasons, and Man United should not hesitate to go for him if he becomes available next summer.
