Manchester United could sign former Arsenal midfielder for €50m

Manchester United are believed to be one of the many suitors for the former Arsenal prodigy Ismaël Bennacer, as reported by Sports Witness.

United currently have an abundance of midfielders under their senior rank. The competition within the squad is so high right now that the likes of Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek and Nemanja Matic are barely getting chances on a regular basis.

However, Pogba’s comments about his dream to play for Real Madrid one day have sparked the talks of him leaving Manchester United again sooner than later.

Therefore, it wouldn’t be a surprise should United choose to sign a midfielder in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to a report from Calciomercato, AC Milan midfielder Ismaël Bennacer will have his €50m activated next summer. Bennacer spent two years at Arsenal between 2015 and 2017 but didn’t make any notable contribution.

And other sources claim that Manchester United remain one of the keenest parties to secure a move for the Algerian midfielder.

Besides Manchester United, United rivals in Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have had shown interest in attaining his services over the last few years.

However, nothing has had happened due to AC Milan’s overambitious asking price.

Since joining AC Milan from Empoli in 2019, the 22-year-old defensive midfielder has made 42 appearances for the red side of Milan.

He has now become one of the irreplaceable members in the Stefano Pioli’s Milan side.

Yet, his €50m release clause means it would likely to get triggered by an interested party in today’s market next summer.

And should Milan fail to qualify for the Champions League next season, the Algerian midfielder might eventually consider an exit.
