As per Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are in talks with Donny van de Beek’s agents for a while now. The 23-year-old midfielder wants to join a Premier League side and Ajax are ready to offload him for a fee around €40m.
Romano also reports that United have an excellent relationship with Ajax courtesy of Edwin van der Sar. The Dutch goalkeeper spent six seasons at Old Trafford and won four league titles and a UEFA Champions League trophy. He currently serves as the CEO at Ajax.
United have not submitted an official bid but are negotiating with the player’s agent to agree on personal terms. It is also believed that this transfer won’t take much of time.
Today, reports come that van de Beek has already told his teammates that he will join United. He is set to travel to Manchester next week and finalise the last details.
Van de Beek also missed Ajax’s pre-season games against Frankfurt and Union Berlin. Ajax boss Eric Ten Hag agreed that there have been ‘developments’ which kept the player from playing. Ten Hag further added that an announcement is due to be made when things gain clarity.
