Man United could miss out on signing Jadon Sancho after Dortmund chief’s comments

Manchester United may have a tough task of signing Jadon Sancho this summer after Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc hinted that his club may not accept a reduced fee for the attacker.

Sancho has been earmarked as the prime transfer target for United and it has recently been claimed that the club have already agreed personal terms with the 20-year-old.

Still, his £100m plus price tag remains an issue, particularly with Ed Woodward stating that United may not be in a position to spend ‘hundreds of millions of pounds‘ on a single player amid the coronavirus pandemic.

There has been the suggestion that United could possibly sign Sancho for a significantly lesser fee but that seems unlikely with Zorc insisting that no club in England will make a big-money move for Sancho under the current crisis and he is ‘totally relaxed’ over forward’s future.

“There is no new situation [on Sancho]. Currently, no club will risk anything in making a big-money move – not even in England. We have a long-term contract with Jadon Sancho and that is why we are totally relaxed,” He told Sport1.

Earlier this month, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said that United are financially strong and they could have the advantage over other clubs in signing their preferred summer targets.

The United board, however, don’t seem to share the same opinion on the transfer plans and it remains to be seen whether they will change their stance and back Solskjaer in the pursuit of Sancho.

The Norwegian has not put a foot wrong in his selection of new players. Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Daniel James, Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo (on loan) have all made their mark this season.
