Manchester United confident of agreeing contract deal with emerging Dutch attacker: report

Manchester United are reportedly confident that they can convince Tahith Chong to sign a new long-term contract and thereby neglect the interest from Serie A giants Juventus.

The Netherlands youth international has been highly regarded coming through the youth ranks, but he has yet to establish himself at the senior level and managed just four appearances this term.

As a result, Chong is currently assessing his future with his United deal expiring next summer but Metro claims that the Red Devils are confident of agreeing on a new and improved contract with their graduate.

The same publication cites that the club are prepared to offer the teenager with a £25,000-a-week salary as they look to thwart any potential approach from the Bianconeri.

Chong has not impressed with the limited gametime he has had with the United first-team but he has a chance of becoming a regular in the long-run with Solskjaer keen on trusting the young players.

The Dutchman has regularly stood out with the Under 23s whenever he has taken the playing field and he needs to replicate the same level of performance with the senior side when the opportunity comes by.

Aside from Chong, United are yet to resolve the future of another young graduate in Angel Gomes, who existing deal similarly expires at the end of the current campaign.

Gomes has managed just three appearances for the Red Devils this term and he has likewise been out of contention since early October with Solskjaer opting to trust most of the first-team regulars.
