According to English transfer expert Duncan Castles, Manchester United have made significant progress in their talks for former Borussia Dortmund winger Ousmane Dembele. It is said that United are looking to conclude a season-long loan deal for the French star.
As per Castles, Dembele earns €6m after-tax per year.
However, Barcelona are adamant to offload Dembele on a permanent basis, owing to his recurring injury concerns. In order to replace Neymar Jr, Dembele made a record-breaking move to Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in the year 2017.
Barcelona paid a reported transfer fee of €105m for the then-emerging talent.
Dembele, now 23, has had massively struggled with injury woes, having played only 74 matches (as per Transfermarkt) since moving to the Catalan club. Racking up 19 goals and 17 assists in all competitions across his Barcelona career, Dembele has proved his qualities. Though, there are some concerns over his fitness.
The report further clarifies that Barca have labeled a price tag of €100m on the services of Ousmane Dembele. Manchester United are believed to complete three more signings before the end of the summer transfer window.
Sancho is dubbed as the no. 1 priority for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this summer. However, United have refused to pay the €120m asking price for over a month now. Should one of them not be Sancho, it could be the arrival of Dembele, who is understood to strengthen United’s right-wing to a certain extent.
