Manchester United attacker Matheus Cunha sustained a hamstring injury against Burnley during their Premier League game at Old Trafford today.
The Red Devils’ summer signing started the game but picked up the knock shortly after the hosts took the lead in the first-half and was taken off.
Joshua Zirkzee came off the bench to replace Cunha and Man United head coach Ruben Amorim will hope he has not sustained a serious injury.
The Brazilian headed straight down the tunnel after he left the pitch, and fans have been left with their hearts in their mouths with the sight.
Luckily for Man United, the two-week international break will give Cunha the opportunity to recuperate and he could be available for action when the Premier League resumes later next month.
The Red Devils are back in action with a trip to Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City on September 14, and it remains to be seen whether the former Wolverhampton Wanderers star will be fit enough.
Losing key players to injuries very early into the season is the last thing Man United want, and they will be praying the scan results come out positive.
Cunha is not injury-prone and has not missed plenty of games to injuries in the past, which should be good news for the Old Trafford club.
They have options on the bench should he miss some games going forward, with Benjamin Sesko likely to be starting games after the international break.
Bryan Mbeumo can also be deployed to lead the attack if need be, and Amorim will not have any excuse against Man City.
The summer transfer window is open until 11 pm on Monday, and Man United could look to bring in one attacker if they discover that Cunha will spend extended time on the sidelines.
