Manchester United’s negotiations for Jadon Sancho hit a new low as Dortmund have confirmed that he is going to stay with the German club. The Reds should look elsewhere to add more depth in their squad. Real Madrid is the answer
Remodeling of the Bernabeu amidst the financial crunch caused by the pandemic will lead to a sudden need for cash. Reports from the Spanish newspaper Marca claim that Real Madrid will “aggressively push” Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez out of the club in an attempt to raise £164 million in the upcoming transfer window.
The Spanish media claims that Bale doesn’t seem to have a future at his current club, certainly not under the current boss Zinedine Zidane. However, Jonathan Barnett has already stated that the Welsh star won’t be leaving the Los Blancos this season. It is rumoured that the 31-year old is happy to run down his £600k-a-week contract which expires in 2022 even if it means warming the bench all along.
Bale was absent for the Champions League clash with Manchester City and was snapped playing golf in Spain on the afternoon of the game. This incident led to Rio Ferdinand saying that football fans are being denied the chance to see “generational talent” Gareth Bale in action as his standoff with Real Madrid continues. He further went on to say-
“You almost want him to come out and say it. You’re begging for him or the club to come out and make a big statement. He’s got to just come out and make his point. I think it’s time now, really. Either cut your ties with Real Madrid or at least go on loan. Make a deal happen somewhere to get out on the pitch and play football.”
On the other hand, as for the future of James at the club is concerned, it is speculated that he asked the manager to leave him out of the league’s last five games with the intent of avoiding an injury so that he could be physically fit for a move away from the club this summer. As his contract expires in a year, the club will be keen on selling the Colombian forward this summer instead of him walking away for free in 2021.
According to an update from the Spanish press (Mundo Deportivo), Rodriguez’s agent, Jorge Mendes is pushing him to accept the offer presented by Manchester United. The recently crowned Spanish champions are looking for £23 million for the sale of their midfielder.
Rodriguez is a versatile and resourceful player who has proved time and time again that he can play effectively anywhere in the attacking third. But, to come to talk about his place at Manchester United, having recently bought Bruno Fernandes who plays in the same position as James and seems to be in the form of his life, the Red Devils welcoming James at the Old Trafford doesn’t seem to be a wise move.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking forward to strengthening his attacking options and while Rodriguez would do just that, their current tailing of Sancho seems to diminish the chances of James showing up at their doors.
