Premier League clubs Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool are in red alert regarding the future of Barcelona superstar Antoinne Greizmann. [source- Daily Mail].
Barcelona can sell the French forward following Lionel Messi’s decision to see out his contract at his boyhood club.
Ronald Koeman promised Griezmann a fresh start at the Catalan club, but Messi’s announcement on Friday that he won’t take Barcelona to court to force an early exit has left Griezmann’s future in tatters.
The U-turn could have major repercussions on the remainder of the squad. Barcelona needs to trim their squad to cater to Messi and allow young talents 17-year-old Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembele to shine.
The other future in question at Barcelona is of Phillipe Coutinho. Koeman is ready to sell him but wants to take another look at the Brazilian following his impressive performances for Bayern Munich on loan.
This has put Greizmann on Barcelona’s firing line.
The World Cup winner struggled in his first season at Barcelona, with many questioning his need at the club.
As per Transfermarkt, the former Atletico Madrid forward is valued at £86m.
Manchester United have already signed Donny Van De Beek from Ajax to bolster their midfield. The club had prioritized the signing of Jadon Sanco but have seen the deal stall over price issues.
It remains to be seen whether any club and particularly Man United would be willing to meet the hefty fee for Griezmann following the financial impact of the coronavirus outbreak.
