Amid Manchester United trying to sign Jadon Sancho and figuring out his alternatives, academy graduate Tahith Chong joined German side Werder Bremen’s pre-season training camp in Austria.
Earlier this week, Werder’s Sporting Director Frank Baumann revealed about their active persuit to sign Chong on a loan deal. This deal is a step closer as the player joins the pre season training camp today.
Werder tweeted: “Although the final terms of his move are yet to be agreed, Tahith Chong has been given permission to train with the club and will therefore join this morning’s session.”
There have been no signs of the official deal but journalist Simon Stone believes that a 10-month loan move is imminent with Werder paying majority of the salary.
The Holland Under-21 international signed a contract extension in March keeping him at the club until 2022. After dour years since his arrival from Feyenoord, this is the first time he’ll be sent out on loan. A loan move was desperately needed after his inability to break out into the first team.
We wish good luck to Chong and hope he’d have a killer season with Werder.
