Manchester United have apparently agreed personal terms with Shanghai Shenhua striker Odion Ighalo ahead of his proposed move before the transfer deadline, reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed.
The Red Devils have been on the hunt for a new striker over the past few days and most recently, they failed with an approach to sign former graduate Joshua King from Bournemouth, as per Sky Sports.
Still, the club have been actively working in their bid to sign a new centre-forward and Romano has now revealed that they have reached an agreement with Ighalo over the contract package.
Despite this, Solskjaer’s side need to find an agreement with Shenhua over a possible loan deal with the option to buy and Romano believes the club are facing a race against time to sign the former Watford man.
Solskjaer has previously indicated that he wants a new striker with a physical presence upfront but Ighalo does not quite the requirement, given he is not the best with his hold-up play.
Still, he has good finishing skills which were visible during the early phase of his Watford career and he could prove a decent signing on loan until Marcus Rashford returns from his back injury.
Manchester United are scheduled to host Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Saturday evening. New signing Bruno Fernandes is expected to make his debut, possibly off the substitutes’ bench.
